We rent self-drive Can-Am Maverick X3 and Polaris RZR buggies, plus quad bikes, with no driving licence required for off-road desert driving. The Fleet: Which Buggy Should You Drive?

Dubai dune buggy tours run on 2025 Can-Am Maverick X3 and Polaris RZR XP 1000 machines — turbocharged 195HP and 110HP side-by-sides seating up to four adults. Each rental includes safety gear, fuel, insurance and a licensed guide on radio, with no driving licence required.

We run 2025 model-year machines from Can-Am and Polaris only. Each vehicle suits a different kind of driver, so the right choice depends on your experience level and group size.

Can-Am Maverick X3 Turbo RR — 195 HP

Our flagship. A turbocharged Rotax engine, FOX 3.0 internal bypass shocks and a 64-inch stance keep it stable on steep dune faces. Best for confident drivers chasing maximum performance. Two seats.

Polaris RZR XP 1000 — 110 HP

The easiest way into desert driving. Electronic power steering and predictable handling make it the natural pick for first-timers. Two seats.

Polaris RZR 4-Seater

An extended-wheelbase machine that seats four adults comfortably — built for families and friend groups who want to ride together.

Pricing: What a Buggy Rental Costs

A dune buggy rental in Dubai costs from AED 750 for a 60-minute single-seat Polaris RS1, AED 850 for a two-seat RZR XP 1000 and AED 1,100 up to AED 2,400 for four-seat and flagship Can-Am Maverick models. Prices are per vehicle and include gear, fuel and a guide.

Where You Ride: Lahbab & Al Badayer

We operate out of a single base near the Lahbab Red Dunes Conservation Area. These aren't interchangeable desert backdrops — they behave differently under a buggy, and each suits a different kind of rider.

Lahbab Red Dunes

Lahbab sits on the Dubai–Al Ain road corridor, roughly 45–60 minutes from Downtown Dubai depending on traffic. The sand here is the deep red-orange iron-oxide variety the emirate is known for, and the dune field is large enough that you can ride an hour without repeating a line. Ridges are tall and the faces are long, which is why it's our default terrain for the Can-Am Maverick X3 — there's room to use the power. Open flats between dune sets make it comfortable for first-timers to find their footing before climbing anything steep.

Al Badayer

Al Badayer is the more famous dune field, home to the towering ridge known as Big Red, and it sits further along the same road corridor — about 30 km beyond Lahbab. The dunes here are steeper and the bowls deeper, which makes Al Badayer the better choice for confident drivers and for sunset runs where the reflections off the big faces are worth the trip alone. It also draws more casual visitors, so we time our Al Badayer sessions to avoid the crowds.

Getting There From the Emirates

• Dubai: 45–60 minutes from Downtown or Marina via the Dubai–Al Ain Road (E66). Hotel transfers available.
• Sharjah: around 60 minutes, typically via E611 then E66.
• Abu Dhabi: 1.5–2 hours via E11 then E66 — most guests booking from the capital choose an afternoon or sunset slot.
• Ajman & Ras Al Khaimah: roughly 1 to 1.5 hours, northbound then inland on E66.

Safety Standards

Every dune buggy rental in Dubai includes full safety gear — a full-face helmet, goggles, gloves and 4-point harness — plus a pre-ride briefing and hands-on training. Vehicles are inspected daily, guides are first-aid trained and each convoy carries radio contact and a support vehicle with recovery equipment.

Desert driving is an extreme sport and we treat it that way. Every vehicle gets a pre-ride inspection each day, and every guide is trained in first aid and emergency response. Each buggy carries a radio so the convoy stays in constant contact, and a support vehicle follows with recovery gear, spare parts and medical supplies. Group sizes are capped at eight buggies per guide.

Drivers need to be 16 or older with valid photo ID — a passport or Emirates ID is fine, and no UAE driving licence is required for off-road desert driving. Passengers aged 5 and up are welcome with proper restraints. No prior buggy experience is needed; guides adjust the route to your skill level.

Best Time to Ride

Peak season runs October through April, when daytime temperatures sit between 20 and 30 °C. Morning slots (8:00–11:00 AM) give you cool air and untouched sand; evening slots (3:30–6:30 PM) deliver golden-hour light for photography and spectacular sunsets over the ridges.

June through August is considerably hotter but far quieter, and we open early slots from 6:00 AM to get ahead of the heat.
